Poetic Angel’s Poetics/Inspirational Works

This page is a relaxing place to come for a brief stint. It is full of
heartfelt poems, and does not brim over like an overstuffed Christmas package.
“Wonder” examines the beauty of nature and life, with the never-ending realms
within. She presents us a couple serenades of love. One of my favorite poems
said to me to let go of life’s mediocre chains and see it for all it’s beauty.
Feel the day! The site also features a poet each month. This August’s was
Vladimir Swirynsky. His poetry lights up like a lamppost at dawn, hailing the
coming sun on the horizon. Metaphors dance with the rhyme and sing to images
and emotions not all people will ever know.

Libby’s Place

Libby’s place is a very enjoyable site with extremely diverse poetry. It
contains the best of all worlds in one. There are plenty of authors to choose
from. Libby’s grasp on rhythm is probably one of the best features of her
poems. Some are cheerful and catchy, but others like “Why Do You… Why Do
I…” are succinct, but powerful, as if thoughts had been sent into a mirror
and turned inside out to find the view of another. She has a point and she
makes it well. Soula, another writer, wrote the imposing “Why” a graphic and
uneasing hourney into the aftermath of the heart of evil – rape. To go from
that, to her next poem, is as opposite as the ocean floor and the sun above,
but “Love Is A Flower had a fine combination of Quatrain and Cinquain
properties with beautiful metaphors. After you checked out the featured
writers, submit your own stuff, or read poetry from tons of other writers all
over the world. Also, there is a section of Tupac Shakur’s poetry. I was
surprised to find how intelligent and beautiful his poems were. They had
meaning, depth, and true homage to the sound and art of poetry.

Frodo’s Realm

This website seems to have been pulled out from the mind of J.R.R. Tolkien.
The webmaster, Chris Furniss has plenty for you to choose from. One of the
highlights is his poetry. One, very long, “epic” poem covers the emmense
ground of faith, destiny, society, and family. He has some very intriguing
views. You can also explore his novel, journal, or information about Chris,
all within the bounds of simple navigation.

Spiritoso

Spiritoso is an exceptional page, in that it is different than your usual
poetry pages. Rather than the poetry straight out, which in and of itself is
wonderful art, four teen editors have set this page up with links into their
own worlds. I especially enjoyed the fact they change their featured poem each
week. There are a few examples of their poems I’d like to mention. First,
“Ivory Souls” gives a very mystic and fascinating picture of angels unseen.
One of the editors, Sorn, writes a well-crafted rhyme of love from his heart,
but finds dismay when his muse turns out to be fairly uncaring. But we all can
be that way sometimes. Jazzy introduced her poetry with a quote of her own,
which I thought was very true. Taking the title from the Ingmar Bergman
classic, she writes, “We see through a glass darkly – poets are the window
cleaners.” “A Thousand Faces” shows the potential and different deviation of
oneself. “In the Eye of the Beholder” is a professional and true piece on
taking gifts for granted. We find many musings on fate, soul, and the world. I
leave you with a romantic view of the ocean as given through the “Whispering
Waves.”

Worship Me Like The Goddess I Am

An interesting title to be sure, I certainly enjoy goddesses. The goddess,
Patricia Rasch has set up a site for a wide spectrum of teens. In addition to
her poetry, she has other people’s poetry, song lyrics, and other thoughts on
her page. Her poetry was very beautiful. Little of it rhymed, but the free
verse messages were so well put, they struck me as though they had pierced
some armor. “A Water-Filled Sock” was an amusing metaphor for something.
Something very big.

“Not Everything’s So Tragic” reminds us hard times
don’t last forever. “Crash and Burn” was so very touching. This heartfelt poem
is a love letter to a friend too soon gone. She has dedicated her page to
Melissa Forrestal, who died of cancer this June. I thought a letter Patricia
to her friend was the best poem a person could write. Pure heart. So though I
never met the girl, I’d like to dedicate this issue of my reviews to Melissa
Forrestal.

I Wish

I wish I could give the hungry something to eat,
I wish the malnourished could have some wheat,
I wish the shoeless people could have shoes on their feet,

I wish the weary could have a seat,
I wish the messy were a little more neat,
I wish bands would come out with a better beat,
I wish all people all could meet,
I wish Marines were a little more elite,
I wish the Navy could afford a newer fleet,
I wish it would rain rather than sleet.

Bottle

it cannot be broken
must be opened
before it explodes
before i explode
bottle

all this pain i feel
-all-this-fear-
gnaws at my heart
bottle
keep it down
shove it away
out of sight
out of mind

Return

Something around has changed. I’ve crossed this road before,
Yet I feel like a stranger in a place my heart has explored.

Every sight around me is different. I know I don’t belong
Among the pieces of this jigsaw. Have I been away so long?
Long enough for faces to have turned alien,
Long enough for speech to turn trivial and slurred,
Unknown voices fly past me down the hall,
As I search my mind listlessly for words.

I have drifted so far away already, but I don’t feel like turning back,
Though I’m unsure about my next move and it’s lonely on the track

To nowhere. I’m an intruder on this picture of distressing calm
And discipline. Vague recollections fail to serve as balm.

I try to awaken memories from their torpor and recognize
My home in this curious act unfolding before my eyes.
I want to escape the disturbing order
Thrust upon me. But I wait as time’s spool
Unwinds seconds stepping soundlessly by.
I’ll have to resign to the rules.

Winnie Waterbug

Winnie Waterbug wants warts

All of his friends have them
Everyday
When he goes out to play
He sees the big toads warts
Big warts, little warts
Many warts of all sorts
So finally one humid day
Winnie again goes out to play
But today he asks his best friend Torts

If he really likes his warts
Torts tells Winnie he’s very strange
That he would gladly love to change
Places with the waterbug
To have his skin so smooth and snug
But Winnie Waterbug still wants warts

Blue Roses

I’m looking for flowers
For my lovers vase
I’ve been searching all over
Every garden and place
I prefer roses

But not the ordinary red
I’de rather have blue instead
I’ve seen carnations and tulips
And daisies near streams
I guess my blue roses
Are only in dreams
I think roses are beautiful
And my lover is too
Will I ever find my flowers in blue?
